Jay Electronica has seemed to side with Drake over Kendrick Lamar in the latest round of the so-called “Hip Hop civil wars.”

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday (May 2), the rapper seemed to continue his longtime feud with K.Dot by posting a link to Drake’s song, “Champagne Poetry,” off of Certified Lover Boy.

Jay Electronica subsequently deleted the post.

But back in 2016, the New Orleans rapper dissed Kendrick Lamar on “#TBE The Curse of Mayweather,” a track that he released on February 15.

In response, Dave Free of TDE called Electronica a “desperate housewife.”

“Damn you still mad about control @JayElectronica,” Free wrote with laughing emojis, “#sadman.”

Free is referencing Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s 2013 song “Control,” where he said he’d lyrically murder every rapper in the game, including Jay Electronica. The New Orleans rapper was also featured on the song.

“watch your mouth stay off the swine and get knowledge of self,” Electronica responded. “your mans wack. dont make me crumble your whole shit.”

“Ok Mr. @JayElectronica lol” Free hit back with more laughing emojis, “#desperatehousewives.”

That same year, Jay Elec also threatened to “knock 50 Cent’s eyeballs out of his scalp,” while also taking shots at Kendrick during session on no defunct live streaming platform Periscope.

“Look, I like the one Kendrick song with Gunplay, ‘Cartoons and Cereal,’ but other than that we don’t know what nigga talking about,” Jay Electronica said in the broadcast.

Later in the clip, Jay Electronica dissed K. Dot again.

“Kendrick is my son,” he said of his Big Sean “Control” collaborator. “Kendrick is my baby, Kendrick wishes he could be me.”

In April 2014, Jay Electronica said he had the best “Control” verse and ranked the verses in order of their potency.

“me, big sean then kendrick. he really didn’t say anything,” Jay Electronica said in a Twitter post at the time. “no shots. everyone knows i like kendrick. but facts are facts.”

Elsewhere in the Periscope clip, Jay Electronica dissed 50 Cent.

“50 Cent at once, he was a good rapper,” the Louisiana rapper says. “Right now he got the potential to be a rapper, but he’s on some sucker shit…and we will slap 50 Cent’s eyeballs loose out his scalp.”

Later that same year, Jay Electronica apologized to both rappers, and asked them to “forgive his past transgressions,” according to Pitchfork.
