Rio Narley Hits a Cosmic Home Run with “Cosmo League,” a Hip-Hop Metaphoric Knockout

MYRTLE BEACH - Describing his music as a mixture of hip hop, world, and new era, Rio Narley said, “My music is more about the reality in which I live in - the things that people are afraid to talk about daily and only talk about behind closed doors. I’m opening up people to be free with themselves and accept themselves for who they are.”

Believing peace comes from allowing the universe to be your guide and never stop chasing a dream, Narley uses music to free his listeners. He incorporates the feeling that unification, especially in different ethnicities, is the way to unite everyone. “It doesn’t matter what country you are in; we are all people,” he said.

“The biggest challenge I faced was accepting who I was and expressing my true self to the world. But I overcame the scarcity of being myself by not caring what others had to say about me,” he explained. “From that point on, I became as organic of a human being as I could be. When times get tough, I convert to writing about it, and that’s what keeps me going.”

Dropping Jan. 28, “Cosmo League” is an optimistic and expressive track that showcases Narley’s ability to weave an inspirational message while maintaining typical hip-hop techniques. The song begins with a moderate tempo and accelerates as the track climaxes while retaining a melodic beat.

“I’m sending a message through the song. The reason why I named it ‘Cosmo League’ is to give off the impression of it being a baseball team, but it’s not really a baseball team,” he said. “It’s a way of explaining that I reached my highest peak in life. I hit a home run for myself. When I say I hit a home run for the cosmos, I’m saying I’m locked in on a deeper part of myself, and I’ve embraced it.”

Writing lyrics deep with metaphors and similes, every Narley song has a hidden message - “Cosmo League” is no different. “I believe that the message is much deeper than everything else. If you have a dream, chase it and stay consistent, and you can hit a home run for the Cosmo League.”

Unlike other artists who seem to write songs in mere minutes, Narley is a deep thinker. He takes a strategic approach when writing and blends straightforward lyrics while being far-fetched simultaneously.
