With the recent release of “Tu Gloria” (“Your Glory”), Ely Lucas has launched her career in Christian music with a worshipful song to God set to a slow, majestic piano track.
“My inspiration comes from God,” she said. “I make music to worship him.”
Ely, from La Libertad, Guatemala, lives in Florida now. Her smooth, mezzo-soprano voice gives “Tu Gloria,” sung in Spanish, a joyful lift to the grand, measured beat of the piano.
Tu gloria ha sido tan grande (Your glory has been so great)
Tu amor no ha tenido fin (Your love has no end)
Me has redimido con tu amor (You have redeemed me with your love)
Me has cubierto con tu gracia (You have covered me with your grace)
Nunca me has abandonado Dios (You have never abandoned me, God)
Hoy te doy la gloria a ti (Today I give the glory to you)
“I want people to know that God’s love is so immense, it never leaves. He is always with us,” she said.
She has been writing songs, for seven years, beginning when she was 14. She writes the lyrics and music. Her primary musical influences — “Of course,” she said — is Christian music and especially the Christian music group Barak.
“I’d love to reach as many people as possible with my music,” she said. “I want to always improve on my performance, help people in their own lives and make a true singing career,” she said.
“I want to create as much music as God will let me.”
