Songwriter and performer, Pam Ross, shares her newest single, “Tonight,” an Americana-inspired ode to working through relationship issues.
Signed to MTS Promotions & Records, Pam Ross is undeniably a strong, authentic voice in the scene. Blending Americana, country, rock, pop, and folk elements into a sound uniquely hers, Pam shares experiences, hopes, and struggles through her music, resonating with listeners of all walks of life.
Pam’s love for music across genres enables her to explore different styles of music in her own writing. “I work hard to make sure if you’re listening to my music, you won’t get bored,” tells Pam. “There’s always something different coming at you.”
Pam Ross knew music was in her soul from a young age. Born in Pittsburgh, Pam spent the majority of her life in Houston, Texas, where she explored the world of live performance at open mic venues, sharing her original songs with fresh audiences. She soon was recognized as a lively performer with thoughtful music and took her show on the road throughout the state of Texas.
During her college years, Pam chose to create a safety net by earning a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees. It wasn’t until the pandemic that Pam found her way back to her true calling. “I had a COVID shot and wasn’t feeling well. I couldn’t run or work out. I was stuck in the house alone with myself. I couldn’t stand it. Then the epiphany hit me—I had to play music,” explains Pam of finding her way.
From that moment, she began revisiting old songs and starting from “ground zero” to rebuild. “I started writing songs and reworking older songs,” says Pam. “I looked up places to play open mics, and the world opened up again.” This time, it wasn’t enough to write just any music—Pam was going to focus on perfecting her art.
“I knew I needed to up my game in songwriting,” Pam adds. “As songwriters, we need to continue to grow. We all have room for improvement. It stings a little at first, but I’ve grown so much from feedback.”
In 2020, Pam relocated to North Carolina, where she recorded her 2023 debut album, When Therapy Fails, at Goodluck Studio in Chapel Hill. Her debut album made waves with four singles breaking into the top 10 on the UK iTunes rock and country charts and Indie Music Network Charts. In 2024, she won Female Multi-Genre Artist of the Year at the Josie Awards. Several more accolades and many performances later, Pam is ready to take on 2025 with a fresh single.
Out February 15, 2025, Pam Ross’ single, “Tonight” is an emotional exploration of perseverance in relationships. “I wrote ‘Tonight’ when my wife and I were going through a hard time,” Pam shares. “A lot of relationships don’t work because sometimes it’s easier to leave than to dig deep and make things work. I was realizing how much everything did mean and that it was worth working it out and taking the harder road to make things work.”
Through the song, Pam highlights that love isn’t easy, but you can’t give up when there’s a bump in the road. “You’ll go through ups and downs. Life isn’t all roses. You have to dig down deep to hold on to something worth holding on to.” While the song holds a heavy meaning, Pam wants listeners to enjoy it for what it is—both a lesson and a musical journey.
When writing music, Pam Ross generally starts with guitar and adds keyboard to enhance the sound. For “Tonight,” Pam found the melody first, along with the opening chords. From there, the song flowed effortlessly. After a few rounds of feedback from sources in Nashville, Pam rewrote the song to a point of comfort.
“All my songs have their own vibe,” tells Pam. “I like to think as time goes on, I’ve become a better songwriter.”
Listeners can look forward to new music from Pass Ross throughout the year as she releases singles from the album through the end of 2025. For live performances, be sure to check out her updated show list on her website.
