Ed Sheeran has prepared a posthumous record titled Eject in his will, though fans will not be able to hear it until after he passes away.
The Perfect singer explained that his final album, released during his lifetime, will be called Stop, while Eject will be unveiled later as a posthumous project curated by his wife, Cherry Seaborn.
During his conversation on Apple Music 1, host Zane Lowe suggested that Stop would be his final release. Ed responded: “Well, no, it’s actually, it would be Stop and then Eject. Eject is the album in the will.”
He added, “It’s actually in my will. It’s actually in my will, and Cherry gets to pick the tracks for it. I fully like it’s in there if I were to go tomorrow.”
Zane followed up by asking, “What do you mean it’s in your will?”
Ed clarified: “My wish is to make a record out of all the songs from the age of 18, so when I pass away.”
He continued: “Choose the 10 best. And it’s like imagine if Paul McCartney dies and there are early 16-year-old Beatles recordings and then right up to it, the 10 best of his entire career. Lots of people won’t like that about me, but there’ll be lots of my fans who would find that super-interesting.”
The Shape of You star said he plans to leave hints for Cherry about which songs he hopes will be chosen, but stressed he does not want anyone else to “jumble up stuff and put it out” after his death.
Ed’s plans for Eject come after he had a church and burial chamber created on the grounds of his large Suffolk property.
The official planning documents stated: “Burial zone beneath (penetration through slab).”
Ed, who shares daughter Lyra Antarctica, five, and son Jupiter, three, with Cherry, had an earlier proposal to build a chapel on his Suffolk estate turned down.
He later applied for a smaller structure shaped like a boat in 2019, describing it as a place where he could “retreat for contemplation, prayer and relaxation,” and this time it was approved.
In the meantime, Ed is preparing to release his new record Play on Friday (12.09.25). The follow-up project, Rewind, is scheduled for 2027.
