Late last week, news broke that “Ebro In The Morning” had been cancelled at Hot 97 with immediate effect. Once the announcement began circulating, Drake supporters quickly celebrated across social media. Much of that reaction stemmed from the fact that Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg had been openly critical of Drake during his highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar.

Over the weekend, the situation with Drake intensified when he left an axe emoji in the comments of an Instagram post discussing the show’s cancellation. That single response sparked public reactions from both Rosenberg and Ebro, who went on to label the rapper as right wing. However, the exchange did not stop there.
On Monday, The Ebro, Laura, Rosenberg Show officially launched on YouTube, and during the debut, Ebro shared screenshots of private messages between himself and Drake. According to Ebro, their last interaction prior to this moment dated back to 2020. The newly revealed messages, sent by Drake around 3:30 in the morning, carried a far darker tone.
“Die slower pussy,” Drake wrote. “We got some shit for you.”
Ebro responded to the message several hours later, telling Drake to relax and suggesting that his frustration stemmed from losing the battle with Kendrick Lamar. The tone of Drake’s message came off as openly spiteful, and it was clear he was pleased by Ebro no longer being on the air.
It remains unclear whether these messages were meant to play to Drake’s fanbase or simply reflect his genuine feelings. Still, similar behavior has surfaced before, most notably in his past exchanges with Anthony Fantano.
The Ebro, Laura, Rosenberg Show Debuts
Ebro, Stylez, and Rosenberg’s new program will stream daily on YouTube and operate independently from Hot 97, essentially continuing the format they built at the station. Despite the shift, the trio appears united and supportive of one another, regardless of network affiliation.
Whether Drake chooses to address the leaked messages publicly remains to be seen. One thing is clear, though, and that is his frustration with how the media has framed his feud with Kendrick Lamar has not faded.
