Emeli Sandé and her fiancée have parted ways

Emeli Sandé and her partner Yoana Karemova have decided to go their separate ways, bringing their engagement to an end.

In comments shared with The Sun on Monday, the Read All About It singer confirmed that she and the classical pianist had called time on their relationship after being together for roughly four years.

“Sadly, we decided to separate in the summer,” she told the outlet. “We both care very much for each other but needed to focus our time and energy on our music careers.”

Emeli first spoke publicly about her relationship with Yoana in March 2022, and the couple went on to announce their engagement six months after that.

Looking back on their relationship during an interview with Metro at the time, the singer described her partner as “the one for life”.

“We met through music,” she said. “And I definitely feel happier than ever. It feels great... For me, true love and having love in your life makes everything fit into place.”

Plans for their wedding were later put on hold in November 2023, as the Scottish artist concentrated on promoting her fifth studio album, How Were We to Know, along with its supporting tour.

Before her relationship with Yoana, Emeli was previously involved in a long term partnership with scientist Adam Gouraguine.

The pair were married in 2012, before finalising their divorce two years later.

At the moment, Emeli is fully immersed in work on her sixth studio album.

Over the weekend, the 38 year old shared an update with fans via Instagram, posting a photo of herself inside the recording studio.

“Studio going great, definitely feeling focused, grateful and inspired! Can’t wait for shows for new music releases and to reconnect for real, miss you guys!!!!” she wrote in the caption.
