Your new pre-workout mix just dropped, courtesy of the hip hop collective known as Music League Ballers. It’s their new single, “We Major.”

Produced by Georgia-based artists Keys of Knowledge, Trap Jackson, and Yam, “We Major” is all bass, rapid-fire lyrics, and up-tempo trap energy.

Home runs, hit it out of the park
You’re looking at stars today

It’s a track built with athletes in mind. It channels the rhythms of days spent training, nights spent in competition, and flipping the mental switch needed when it’s time to perform at the highest level.

“We wanted the first 30 seconds to jump out at you,” Keys says. “No slow intro. Straight to the point. Wake up, get to it, and accomplish something.”

If the energy feels authentic, that’s because it is. The group was formed around a sports identity, with all the members coming from backgrounds of high-level athletic competition. They treat their music the same as a sport: it’s win or go home. The title of the single, “We Major,” speaks to that ethos.

Keys says, “You can do things minor, figuring it out, hit or miss. Or you can do it major. Top of the top. Upper echelon energy. ‘We Major’ is us declaring that what we’re doing isn’t small.”

Like teams with the tightest chemistry, Music League Ballers formed organically. Cousins Trap Jackson and Keys of Knowledge, aka K.O.K., have roots extending from New Jersey, down to Florida, and now to their home base in Georgia. They had long made music together—and competed athletically. With engineer Yam rounding out the trio, they decided it was time to bring their artistic competitiveness to a wider audience.

“All of us were making music individually,” Keys says. “But we were doing it so often together that it turned into something bigger. And now it’s a business.”

A true collective, Keys says that Music League Ballers is always looking to grow, ready for collaborations with other musicians, dancers, visual artists, and beatmakers. Reflecting that ethos, “We Major” began with a beat from a YouTube producer named Tez. His tag can be heard at the beginning of the single, when the voice calls out “I like the beat, yeah I got it from Tez!”

The hook was built by Yam, who also does the engineering. From there, each artist shaped their verses individually, each bringing their own unique—and competitive—voices. Keys says, “Everybody puts their own spin on it. We all played sports at a competitive level, so the experiences are real. That’s why it feels authentic.”

Keys says the group dynamic is like a trio of superstars on a pro sports team: “We are like the Big 3 for the Lakers: Austin, Luka, and Lebron. All contributing to the product as a team with the individual skills to make a name just as big on their own.”

An accompanying music video for “We Major” is due out in March. It features the trio performing in matching powder blue baseball jerseys. Shot by Terrius at Real Big Vision Studios in Atlanta, the video matches the competitive intensity and team identity of Music League Ballers. Behind-the-scenes photography was done by Latavious Lewis of Swamp Visionz.
