This new release marks the fourth single from the Swedish pop artist’s upcoming ninth studio album Sexistential, which is scheduled to arrive on March 27 through Young. The song follows earlier releases including the title track along with Talk To Me and Dopamine.

The song was produced by Klas Åhlund and is described as a reimagined version of Blow My Mind from Robyn’s 2002 album Don’t Stop The Music. This updated version was created as a personal tribute to her three year old son.

“‘Blow My Mind’ is the one song on the album about my son,” she explained about the intense, stripped back and emotional track.

“I was in that early stage when I was with him all the time, and something about that closeness opened the song up to me again. Listening back to the original, I thought, ‘I think it’s one of the best songs I ever recorded, and I’m just gonna do it again’.”

Robyn continued: “I rewrote the lyrics and I love this version’s rawness. It’s not cute, because it’s not cute with children. They’re cute, but the experience isn’t. It’s very punk.”

The track includes the lines: “Straight up from my heart, you’re my number one/ And hey, here’s the part, I’m still having fun/ It’s like you’re the cloud underneath my feet/ And you’re the reason that I breathe.”

Robyn had earlier spoken about the Sexistential title song, describing it as “possibly the world’s first rap about having one-night stands while 10 weeks pregnant after IVF”. Earlier this year she also performed a live version of the track on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

While revealing details about the album which follows her 2018 release Honey, the pop star shared: “Exploring my sensual life is the same feeling as when I make a good song.”

She added: “It’s such a beautiful kind of sensitive vibration that takes so much work to keep afloat. I feel like the purpose of my life is to stay horny – it doesn’t even have to be about sex, but it’s feeling sensual and attracted to things that I enjoy, and not letting anything take over that.”

Robyn is planning to perform songs from Sexistential during her upcoming headline arena tour across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia later this year. The UK shows will include a major performance at London’s O2 Arena in July. Visit here for UK tickets, here for Australian tickets, and here for North America.

She is also scheduled to join Harry Styles as a support act in Amsterdam this May during his Together, Together tour.

In separate news, Robyn recently revealed she disliked Elon Musk long before public criticism became common. She explained: “For me, I started hating him when he put a Tesla into space with a David Bowie song on it.”
