Mary J. Blige recently discussed her connection with 50 Cent while appearing on Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Monday. During the conversation, Blige, who acted in 50’s series Power Book II: Ghost, praised him as a “great boss” and shared that he is someone who “always blesses us with jobs."
She also reflected on the time 50 appeared on her BET talk show The Wine Down. “He opened up so much. He was so soft and inviting, and he told so much truth,” Blige recalled. “And not that he would ever lie. What I'm saying is he was very vulnerable. I was like, ‘Wow, you are really a nice man.’ He's a beautiful person until you rub that wrong side, and then that's it.”
Mary J. Blige’s comments about 50 Cent come at a time when he has been involved in multiple disputes with other rappers over the past few weeks. One situation includes his back and forth with Maino, Jim Jones, Fabolous, and Dave East after they spoke critically about the Netflix documentary series Sean Combs: The Reckoning during a December episode of the Let’s Rap About It podcast. In response, 50 mocked them using artificial intelligence in the music video for his Max B collaboration, "No More Tricks, No More Tries." Maino later fired back with the diss records "Bleed Like Us" and "The Algorithm."
Additionally, 50 has also been going back and forth online with T.I. and members of his family. That situation started after T.I. suggested that 50 was the reason their possible Verzuz battle never happened. He spoke about it during an episode of Million Dollaz Worth of Game. When 50 later posted the previously mentioned "No More Tricks, No More Tries" video on Instagram, he appeared to respond to T.I. in the caption. "Yall thought I was talking about the Cosby’s. I’ll deal with Bill later. I am the algorithm," he wrote. He has also continued taking playful jabs at his longtime rival Young Buck.
