KATSEYE’s “Pinky Up” Named This Week’s Top New Music by Fans

“Pinky Up,” the latest track from global girl group KATSEYE, has taken the top spot in this week’s fan voted music poll.

Fans cast their votes in a Billboard poll released Friday April 10, selecting the group’s newest release as their favorite track of the week. It also marks their first song to drop while member Manon is currently on hiatus.

“Pinky Up” climbed to No. 1 during a week packed with fresh releases from Lady Gaga and Doechii, Tiny Habits, The Strokes and others. By the time voting closed on Sunday, KATSEYE secured 50% of the total votes.

The group’s upbeat, hyperpop single was written by Justin Tranter and produced by dwilly, “hitman” bang and FRANTS, and arrived alongside a choreography driven music video directed by Bardia Zeinali.

The song also made its first live appearance this week at Coachella, where KATSEYE took the stage on Friday night.

“We absolutely love, love, love the song,” Daniela told Billboard on Saturday after the group’s performance at the Indio, California festival. “To perform it for the very first time, debut it at Coachella, was fire. I looked back at the videos and I was like, ‘Guys, we ate that.’ Especially the dance break. The crowd went wild.”

Megan added, “I think it’s one of our favorites. It’s very hard hitting, something that makes us feel confident. I think it’s probably pretty high up there.”

Other songs following behind “Pinky Up” include Lady Gaga and Doechii’s “Runway,” which earned 12% of the vote, and Tiny Habits’ “Right in Front of Me,” which brought in 10%.
