Offset Says Security Guard Spit On Him Ahead Of Dispensary Brawl

In November, a security guard named Jim Sanchez filed a lawsuit against Offset, accusing him of assault and battery. In the complaint, Sanchez claims the former Migos member and his entourage showed up at the MedMen LAX cannabis dispensary in Los Angeles, where he was on duty in March of last year. He alleges that after asking the rapper for identification, the situation escalated and Offset struck him in the face. According to Sanchez, members of Offset’s crew then got involved, leaving him injured and requiring medical treatment. He is pursuing punitive, general, and special damages totaling more than $25,000.

Offset is now responding to the claims. Per TMZ, he denies any wrongdoing and instead claims that Sanchez spit on him first, which sparked the incident. He is asking the court to dismiss the case entirely and is also seeking reimbursement for legal expenses.

In a recent filing, Offset argues that Sanchez should not receive damages, stating that “[a]t least some of the acts complained of by [Sanchez] were provoked by his wrongful conduct.” He also maintains that “[Sanchez] was at fault in how he conducted himself.”

Alongside the lawsuit, Offset is also dealing with a misdemeanor charge connected to the incident. He has entered a not guilty plea and is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow, April 29.

Legal issues are not the only challenge Offset has faced recently, as he was shot outside a casino in Florida earlier this month. Thankfully, the injuries were not considered life threatening, and he appears to be recovering well.

Speaking with Creators Inc. last week, Offset shared his mindset after the incident. "Got to keep pushing," he said. "Gladiator mentality, man. The show don't ever stop at the end of the day. I was blessed enough to be able to still move. So I'm still moving."
