The Florida rapper was discovered on February 25 inside the passenger seat of a vehicle. According to TMZ, Hapeville Chief of Police Bruce Hedley stated that “Poppa was in a single car accident on Interstate 85” shortly after meeting with his manager, adding that “that is when he shot himself.” Toxicology results are still pending.

An Investigation Into The Incident Remains Active
Complex reported that Lil Poppa and his manager had agreed to meet at a nearby hotel during their conversation. The meeting reportedly happened, although Poppa only spoke “through the window of his car.” Details surrounding what was discussed have not been shared publicly. Following the interaction, Lil Poppa reportedly shot himself before being transported to a nearby hospital.
A memorial service was held later that month, but the situation quickly turned chaotic after gunfire broke out at the gathering. Reports claimed that four people suffered injuries during the incident. At the same time, Toie Roberts, the mother of Lil Poppa’s child, shared an emotional statement online after his death.
“Nothing could EVER describe the pain, the thoughts, the constant heartbreak of it all,” she wrote. “Our reality changing before my eyes.. i’ve been wondering how could you be so in a rush to leave us so suddenly & torturing.. for us to go on without you in life..but deep down, i know you didn’t mean to & you didn’t mean to hurt us. ESPECIALLY NOT KOFI.. at least NOT LIKE THAT!!!”
We’ll continue sharing updates as authorities release more information surrounding the case.
