New Video Game To Feature Tupac Alongside Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg has revealed that Tupac Shakur will appear in Stranger Than Heaven, the upcoming title from the team behind the Like A Dragon franchise.

Stranger Than Heaven is an action adventure game that follows a story stretching across five decades. According to the official description, it is “A saga of men with nowhere to go and their desperate struggle to find a home. Use extreme violence to survive, and musical talent to thrive as a showman across five cities and eras of modern Japan.”

Earlier this year, it was announced that Snoop Dogg would join the cast of Stranger Than Heaven in the role of Orpheus. Fellow musicians Tori Kelly (Kelly Day), Ado (Keiko Shirai), and Satoshi Fujihara (Takashi) are also featured in the Like A Dragon prequel.

During Summer Game Fest on Friday evening (June 5), Snoop Dogg appeared on stage to officially announce Tupac’s role in Stranger Than Heaven. The rapper will appear as Amaru, a name taken from Tupac’s middle name. “The Tupac estate and my son and myself, we work very closely together,” Snoop said. “So it just made sense to put him in this game, because his likeness and his spirit still lives on. I just felt like it was so connected to what we’re doing.”

In a statement, publisher Sega confirmed that Tupac’s appearance in Stranger Than Heaven was “made possible with the permission and ongoing supervision of his estate, Amaru Entertainment.”

“RGG Studio is treating this integration with the utmost respect for his legacy, crafting every aspect in close collaboration and without the use of AI, including his character design based on archival footage and photographs,” the statement continued. The company added that further information regarding Tupac’s role in the game will be announced in the future. Stranger Than Heaven is scheduled for release on January 15, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
