The promoters behind the Oasis Live '25 tour have received permission to stage concerts at Knebworth.
BBC News reports that North Hertfordshire Council approved SJM Concerts’ application with immediate effect.
The licence allows SJM to hold events for crowds of up to 125,000, with performances permitted to continue into the early morning.
It has not yet been revealed which performer or event the licence is intended for.
Speculation is growing that the Britpop icons could return to Knebworth, where they played two historic concerts in 1996, for six record setting shows.
Reports have also suggested that Oasis could perform a 12 date residency at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “The plans for Oasis have already been arranged.
“They are expected to play 12 concerts at the Etihad across six weeks, beginning in June.
“After that, they will perform six Knebworth shows across three weeks in September.
“More concerts may eventually be announced, but that is currently the main schedule.”
An official announcement is reportedly due sometime this month.
Another source said: “Noel and Liam always intended to continue the tour with another series of shows.
“There had been conversations about revealing the plans during the World Cup because Wonderwall has become connected with the Three Lions throughout the tournament.
“However, they eventually chose August for the announcement.
“It will give everyone across the country something exciting to discuss, whether the result leaves us celebrating or disappointed.”
The original Knebworth concerts happened on August 10 and 11, 1996, meaning an announcement around those dates would be fitting.
Performing six nights at Knebworth would establish a new record for the most concerts played by one artist at the outdoor site.
An insider explained: “Knebworth holds enormous meaning for Noel and Liam.
“Their 1996 concerts made history after 2.6 million fans attempted to secure tickets.
“No British music event had ever received that level of ticket demand before.
“Oasis Live ’25 later surpassed that achievement.
“They are now preparing to become the first act to perform at Knebworth on six occasions.”
Frontman Liam Gallagher, who also staged two solo concerts at Knebworth in 2022, appears to have confirmed that more live dates are coming in 2027.
After a fan wrote on X, “I keep wondering whether fans will still do the Poznan during Cigarettes and Alcohol in 2027, or if a completely different concert tradition will take over,” Liam responded: “It definitely will.”
However, he avoided revealing any further information.
When questioned about rumours involving concerts at Ireland’s Slane Castle, he only answered: “That is a good question.”
He was just as mysterious when asked about possible venues in Scotland, telling one follower: “Quit trying to create drama.”
The Champagne Supernova singer also jokingly told another person that Oasis would perform at the Etihad Stadium for “an entire year.”
