DENVER - Breaking up is hard to do, but it is worse when your significant other tells you, “Not your fault,” as they walk out the door. That gut-wrenching feeling is at the foundation of MetroGloden’s “Not Your Fault” single.

Known throughout the industry as a producer and audio engineer, singer and songwriter can be added to the list. “I’m just trying to make new experimental music that people can vibe with,” explained MetroGloden. “My style originates from being in a metal band back in the day. Then I started producing when I began doing my solo stuff. I was producing for people, and then I started getting really good at making hip-hop beats. Those slower, R&B, and hip-hop beats just mesh with my raspy voice.”

The experimental music he is creating is R&B and pop sounds with metal rock vibes intermixed through “Not Your Fault.” The single, which dropped on Jan. 5, focuses on a bad breakup. “The title, ‘Not Your Fault’ represents what happens when she says, ‘It’s not you; it’s me,’” he said. “She said, ‘It’s not your fault.’ So, I know at least it’s not my fault. Yeah, there’s a bit of dark humor in it.”

“Not Your Fault” talks about the excuses that lead up to the breakup. As the chaos climaxes, the couple decides to break up, and someone says, ‘Don’t worry, it’s not your fault.’ You just feel immediately worse.”

MetroGloden released “Not Your Fault” on his record label, Hollaway Records. In addition to songwriting and performing, he engineered and produced the track.

With his gravelly voice, MetroGloden music falls into the R&B and pop genres, but there is something that happened when he was a teenager that influences his music to this day. At an early age, MetroGloden got snared by hard rock. He listened to nothing else after getting Motley Crue and Ludacris albums for Christmas.

“That definitely influenced my collaboration with rock and hip hop,” he explained. “My love for music continued to carry into my late teens and onward, where I discovered producing and engineering. This all led me to become very proficient in being able to write and record my own music.”

Before releasing “Not Your Fault,” he worked with BA$A$JODIE on “I.D.K.” The single earned thousands of streams and led to MetroGloden getting into the studio to record “Not Your Fault.”

With plans to continue to release his music, MetroGloden knows that his style is unique and creative, which he says is what the R&B scene needs. “If you’re tired of hearing the same R&B album over and over again, ‘cuz all the old ones are really good and new ones are wishy-washy,” he said, “And you want to hear something new and exciting - you should listen to my stuff.”
