Rakim collaborates with Big Ghost Ltd. on remix of comeback album "G.O.Ds Network - The Re-Up"

Rakim, often recognized as one of hip-hop’s founding figures and considered by many the most influential MC in shaping the genre, had been mostly quiet for 15 years before making his return in 2024 with the comeback record G.O.Ds NETWORK - REB7RTH. On that project, Rakim took on more of a producer role, stepping back from the mic and only delivering a select few verses of his own.

Now, more than a year since that return, Rakim has joined forces with Big Ghost Ltd. for a reimagined version of the album. The updated release features brand new production and a couple of additional tracks, giving the original body of work a fresh perspective. While Rakim’s own beats held their ground, Big Ghost brings a unique skillset that completely shifts the mood of a project when he takes on a remix, and this time is no different.

Even though listeners might wish Rakim had offered more verses, the moments he does step into the spotlight feel impactful. The guest features stand out even more against the new instrumentals than they did on the first release, which speaks to how strong they already were.
