Lady Gaga has pushed back her Miami show tonight after experiencing an “extremely strained” voice, following advice from both her doctor and her vocal coach to take time off.

The concert at Kaseya Center was canceled right before it was supposed to begin, leaving thousands of fans waiting to see Gaga perform. “I am really so so sorry, but I need to postpone tonight’s show in Miami,” she shared on Instagram Stories. “During rehearsal last night and my vocal warmup tonight, my voice was extremely strained, and both my doctor and vocal coach have advised me not to go on because of the risk it poses.” Gaga added that even though she wanted to “be hardcore and just push through this for you,” she couldn’t “risk long-term or permanent damage to my vocal cords.”

She also reminded fans that every performance is fully live, noting that there is “a significant risk based on all our combined experience with a show like ours.” Gaga admitted the choice was “a hard and agonizing decision,” but emphasized that she is “more afraid of the long-term implications on my voice.”

In her message, Gaga continued, “I hope you can forgive me and accept my sincerest apologies for any disappointment, let down, inconvenience. I am so so sorry. I tried so hard to avoid this. I take serious care of myself to be able to put on this highly demanding show. I love my fans so much, respect you, and hope you can accept my sincere regretful apology,” She added that her team is already “trying to reschedule the show as quickly as possible.”

The show that was supposed to happen tonight was set to close out her three-night run in Miami as part of the Mayhem Ball tour. It is not yet clear if the situation will affect other upcoming dates. Gaga is still expected to perform on Saturday and Sunday in New York City at Madison Square Garden, and she is also slated to appear at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she leads with 12 nominations.
