GloRilla looks ready to explore a different lane. The Memphis rapper surprised her supporters this week after tweeting that she “will be doing [an] R&B album.” She did not confirm whether the new project will follow her 2024 debut Glorious, but the announcement alone was enough to stir excitement and a bit of disbelief across social media.
Fans quickly reacted to the news, and most of the responses leaned toward playful jokes. Many people imagined what a full R&B era from GloRilla would sound like, even rewriting classic song titles using her well known accent. One fan commented, “Durngerously in Lurve finna go so crazy.” Another wrote, “Okay but… who’s gonna sing the R&B?” Even though GloRilla is not widely recognized for traditional R&B vocals, she has stepped into that space before through a few notable collaborations.
She has joined forces with Kehlani on “Xmas Time,” and she teamed up with T-Pain on “I Luv Her.” Some listeners also feel her 2024 song “Rain Down On Me” with Kirk Franklin leans into R&B. The track even earned her the BET Award for Best Inspirational Award.
In a previous interview, GloRilla explained that she is taking a slower approach to her next album. Speaking with XXL, she shared how important it is for her to get her second project exactly right. “I have a lot of good mursic, but I want it to be perfected to where I want it,” she said. She also noted that she purposely took this year at a slower pace to give herself time to reset creatively. “That’s why I gave this year a rest… to get all the way in the mode.”
Fans are now wondering whether her next era will be a complete switch to R&B or a blend of her gritty rap style with more emotional sounds. She has not offered any details yet, but she has always expressed genuine love for R&B. And based on her career so far, she has never been afraid to experiment or try something unexpected.
This soft reveal also arrives during a major moment in her career. GloRilla recently earned three big nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards: Best Rap Album for Glorious, Best Rap Song for “TGIF,” and another Best Rap Song nomination for “Sticky.”
You can watch GloRilla at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards when the show airs live from the Crypto.com Arena on February 1, 2026. With multiple nominations and the possibility of a new musical direction, the upcoming year is already shaping up to be an important one for her.
