Oasis paid their respects to the late Stone Roses bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield on Saturday night during their concert at Estadio MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil. News of Mounfield’s passing at sixty three had been shared by his brother on Thursday.

“We want to dedicate this to our dear friend, our hero, the one and only Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield,” Liam Gallagher told the crowd before the band moved into “Live Forever.” As the song reached its final moments, a photo of Mani appeared on the video screen behind them, and the band turned toward it in tribute.

Before starting the next track, Gallagher offered another moment of recognition. “Mani can have this one as well, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,’” he said.

Gallagher had previously expressed his grief on social media soon after the announcement. “IN TOTAL SHOCK AND ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED ON HEARING THE NEWS ABOUT MANI MY HERO RIP RKID LG,” he wrote. Noel Gallagher also shared a message, posting a picture of Mounfield with the caption: “RIP Brother. It was a pleasure to have known you.”

The band’s onstage tribute to the former Stone Roses and Primal Scream bassist came during the second to last stop of their reunion tour, which will conclude tonight with the final show at Estadio MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil.

Fans hoping for another run of performances in 2026 may be disappointed. When asked about the idea, Gallagher responded with a firm “NO,” and followed that with “YES IM FUCKING SERIOUS.” When someone else asked whether a return to live shows in 2027 could happen, he offered a hint of possibility. “Maybe,” he replied.
