Muse are preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their fourth studio album, Black Holes & Revelations, with a special reissue and the possibility of performing the record in full.

Released in 2006, the album became the band's second UK number one and remains their only release to earn a Mercury Music Prize nomination. Frontman Matt Bellamy revealed that he and bandmates Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard are already discussing ways to mark the milestone, including an anniversary edition and bringing more songs from the album back into their live shows.

Speaking to NME, Bellamy said: “I think we’re going to bring [album opener] Take A Bow into the set. I think we’re supposed to do some kind of anniversary package, and I’ve got loads of missed emails from management saying we need this, this and this. We’ll probably try to put together some kind of anniversary package.

“Whether we play the whole album at some point, that could be an option.”

Black Holes & Revelations has sold more than five million copies worldwide and includes some of Muse's biggest songs, including "Supermassive Black Hole," "Starlight," and "Knights Of Cydonia."

Elsewhere in the interview, Bellamy reflected on the band's longevity, saying Muse have remained together for more than three decades because they have never followed musical trends.

“When Muse arrived] there were three things going on back then: the end of Britpop, nu-metal in America, and then the new exciting thing was The Strokes, The White Stripes, that retro rock ‘n’ roll thing.

"We didn’t fit in with any of those things – and that, in hindsight, was a blessing really. The fact that we somehow found an audience without being part of a trend is amazing, and I think that’s why we’re still here. We are the definition of alternative, and I’m very, very happy about that.

"We’ve never been in fashion enough that when the limelight moves away from you, you’re just finished.”

Bellamy also revealed that he recently discussed the topic while spending time with Jack White and The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. during this year's Coachella festival in California.

When asked if the trio could ever form a rock supergroup, Bellamy laughed off the idea, joking: “Ha! No, because they would embarrass me with how good they are!”
