Justin Timberlake has poked fun at his beatboxing days, admitting he doesn't "know how to apologise enough" for that chapter of his career.

In a recent Instagram reel, content creator Hannah Young looked back at the Mirrors singer’s habit of supplying his own beats with his voice.

"Nobody questioned it," she stated. "Nobody said, 'Justin, you know? We have drums. This is a professional recording studio. There are instruments available to you.' And we liked it. That's what I need us to sit with. We were watching that man make drum noises with his mouth, like, 'Oh, my God, what can't he do?'"

The playful video attracted thousands of views before Justin joined the conversation with a public reply to Hannah on Monday.

"I often look back on that time as well," he shared. "I still haven't come up with any answers. I don't know how to apologize enough for whatever those ambitions were. Too many boots. Too many cats. I hope you can forgive me."

Wrapping up his response, the SexyBack singer confessed that the urge to beatbox still strikes occasionally.

"Also, I can't promise I won't do it again. God help us all," the 45 year old joked.

His lighthearted apology prompted plenty of support, with several commenters saying they still enjoy his beatboxing.

"Love his beatboxing both LIVE and on studio recordings," one admirer wrote, while another commented: "I've always loved his beatboxing!"

Timberlake put those vocal percussion skills to use on *NSYNC’s Pop, which appeared on their 2001 album Celebrity, as well as his solo hit Rock Your Body, released in 2003.
