Zara Larsson has said she isn't interested in making an album with producer Max Martin.
Appearing on the Las Culturistas podcast on Wednesday, the Lush Life singer was asked by hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang whether she had thought about teaming up with the fellow Swedish hitmaker.
Zara explained that she doesn't currently see herself pursuing a project with Max.
"I don't think so," she said, making clear her admiration for his talent. "That is someone to look up to for me... obviously he's the best songwriter in the world and he just keeps getting number ones. But I don't know if that way of working is for me."
The Midnight Sun artist shared that she would rather return to the studio with collaborators including MNEK, Margo XS, and Helena Gao.
"That's where the magic comes from, not to try and look for it in Max Martin," the singer, 28, explained. "I think me and Max could make an amazing song or album, but I know he will affect me in a way which would make me be a little bit smaller. I respect him so much. I know he has these huge songs and has so much knowledge that I would feel like whatever he says goes."
Throughout his career, Max has helped create hits for artists such as Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd.
At 55, his achievements include five Grammy Awards and a place in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, which he entered in 2017.
Later in the interview, Zara also spoke about the possibility of entering politics in Sweden once she turns 50.
"Like a singing (Zohran) Mamdani," the Never Forget You performer said with a smile, referencing the Mayor of New York City. "Someone who is just for the people and who just does good things."
